Kollam Fest is conducted by Kollam Corporation with the assistance and support of the State and Central Governments are fully engaged to ensure the successful conduct of the fest – an international event to explore the immense potential of Art, Trade, Culture and Tourism.

It is focused for the promotion of trade, tourism, art and culture, through seminars, exhibitions, debates and discussions on sustainable development of Kollam city, they also intent to extend a helping hand to disabled children and also for the treatment of cancer, etc.

The Fest was inaugurated on 10th November 2011 by His Excellency, Shri.  Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary, Hon’ble Governor, Meghalaya in Ashram Maidanam, Kollam. They expect nearly 10 lakhs of people to attend and involve themselves during the month long festivities.

Several music & Dance programs of south Indian artists like Shobana, Vineeth, Lakshmi Gopalasamy, Hariharan & Sharreth, etc.Magician shows involves Muthukadu, Samraj. Kalabhavan comedy shows and ROB (Pogo TV) and also traditional Manipuri, Odeezi dance are the Highlights of this event.

Cruise Journey to Lakshadweep

The Kollam Fest which commenced on November 10th was scheduled to conclude on December 10th has been extended to January 1st in view of the public opinion. The response of the people was overwhelming and the organizing committee was forced to add few more programmes and certain unique events. Of which one, is a cruise to kadmat Island, Lakshadweep   on a ship that can accommodate 656 passengers. As per the arrangements being made, the ship will leave Kollam Port on December 28th and return on December 30th.

Though, the enquiries are encouraging following the media news regarding the Lakshadweep trip. We requesting your good self to make use of this unique and splendid trip to enjoy with fun and frolic. About Lakshadweep:

Lakshadweep formerly known as the Laccadive, Minicoy, and Amindivi Islands, is a group of islands in the Laccadive Sea, 200 to 440 km off the coast of the South West Indian state of Kerala. They were also known as Laccadive Islands, although geographically this is only the name of the central subgroup of the group. The islands form the smallest Union Territory of India. The total land area is 11 sq mi or 32 km². Ten of the islands are inhabited. Lakshadweep is the northern part of the erstwhile Lakshadweepa. The islands are the northernmost among the Lakshadweep-Maldives-Chagos group of islands, which are actually the tops of a vast undersea mountain range, in the Indian Ocean, the Chagos-Laccadive Ridge. The land area is 32 square kilometres (12 sq mi) the lagoon area is about 4,200 square kilometres (1,600 sq mi), the territorial waters area is 20,000 square kilometres (7,700 sq mi) and the economic zone area is 400,000 square kilometres (150,000 sq mi).
